Hi

Welcome to the first issue of 'Keeping Abreast' the official newsletter
of breastANGELS.

Firstly, I just have to say a HUGE thank you to all of you for your support
and encouragement.  These first couple of months have been an absolute
roller coaster of emotions - excitement at launching, trepidation over whether
we will get support, relief that we are (lol), humility at the level of that
support, grief that Bess (Liz) is not here to see it all unfolding ... they just continue.

We have had an amazing few months since we registered breastANGELS
on April 3.  We have been blessed to have Connie, Kerrie & Sharon join us
on the board.  Their enthusiasm and belief in what we want to achieve has
just blown me away.  I love that not one of us is thinking small ... we are
all acutely aware of just how much assistance is desperately needed by
women who have been impacted by breast cancer.

It would be remiss of me not to make a few notable 'Thank You's'
before I go too much further ...

In no particular order ...

Celine Egan & Sue Henry of Accelerate Women and
Direct Selling Women's Alliance Australia/New Zealand (DSWA)
Celine and Sue were financially supporting us even before we registered and
the faith & support they have shown in committing their businesses to ongoing
support is just wonderful.  Thank you ladies.

Stephanie Maioli of Noosa Waterfront Restaurant & Bar
Steph offered her restaurant for our Lunch to Launch before we knew we were
having one!!  Steph is also continuing her support by holding our Halo Day Dinner
there in October - stay tuned for details.

Gaby Nessel and Daryl Stephenson of Westpac Bank at Tewantin.
Gaby came to us and asked how Westpac could support us - how's that for
a bank!!  Stay tuned for further details, but thank you both very much.

To our family & friends both 'down under' and all over the globe - too many
to individually name.  Thank you for your love, support & encouragement,
particularly when the enormity of what we want to achieve overwhelms us.

breastANGELS is here to stay - unfortunately.  I say unfortunately as my end
goal is that we are redundant - that there is a cure for breast cancer and our
services are not needed, but for the forseeable future we have a lot of work to do.
And we need your support to deliver all that we plan.  We have uploaded
information about how you can assist us in fundraising and/or selling merchandise.
Please consider how you can assist as we cannot do all that we have planned
without your help.

Going forward there are lots of things happening, but the biggest at this stage
will be a Halo Day in Pinktober - mark Friday October 23, 2009 on your
calendar NOW! Start puting those thinking caps on as to how you can
support us, create awareness and raise funds for breastANGELS.
How about the vision of your office all wearing pink or black halos!
What colour halo is your boss?

Of course, if there are any businesses out there that would like to support us on
an ongoing basis, please contact us at support@breastANGELS.org

We will be holding further teleseminars to answer any questions that you may
have in relation to breast reconstruction surgery and/or preventative mastectomy.
Remember, breastANGELS is NOT about telling women that they have to
reconstruct, it is about providing the information and support so that each
woman is empowered to make the decision that is right for her.

Think that is it for now - once again, thank you for your support.
We know that we cannot achieve all that we plan on our own.
Your support is integral to our mission and for that we are very grateful.

Angel Blessings to you and yours, Sharon

PS. In terms of funding surgery, we plan to provide support via a grant
submission process.  When we believe we have enough funds to start offering
this support, we will let you know via Keeping Abreast that applications are
being accepted. We will update you with the requirements for the process
once we are closer to accepting requests
